Two of my favourite words to describe God would be Sovereign and Peace.

I am a worrier, I worry a lot. I used to really fear not being valued and I spent a vast majority of my time searching for purpose and meaning in people and also in myself; pouring my heart into friendships, school work, my image and I was striving for perfectionism which was totally self imposed. I was CONSUMED by the”what ifs” in my life and was living for the acceptance of the world.

Abandoning this “I can only do it by myself” attitude and turning my eyes towards the Lord has given me such a sense of peace. I have learnt how insanely important it is to turn to God and to trust in him, not our own goodness for our salvation. A promise is clearly emphasised in Philippians 4:6-7 and it’s so clear and so powerful. God is able to protect our hearts from distress, we just need to turn our worry into prayer. God knows our concerns and he can and he WILL give us peace and stability.

Philippians 4:6-7 -do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We are perfectly imperfect in Gods eyes. We are so so wonderful and he adores us dearly. He wants us to stop pursuing and being crippled by perfectionism and acceptance of others. God wants us to have the freedom to be able to pursue love to to seek trusting in him with all our hearts.
